AERO-FLEX
VAC-U-MAX Flexible Screw Conveyors
A Simple, Reliable Workhorse
Flexible screws, also known as shaftless augers, helixes, or spiral conveyors are a highly versatile, cost-effective, low maintenance solution for moving dry powders, granules, and pellets from bulk bag unloaders, bag dump stations, and feed hoppers and into your workflow. The AERO-FLEX conveyor features a heavier duty spiral than its competitors which means less maintenance and downtime, guaranteed.
Flexible Screw Conveying: Versatile, Cost-Effective Material Handling
Flexible screw conveying is a smart, simple, mechanical solution for transferring a broad range of bulk dry materials from bulk bag unloaders, bag dump stations, and feed hoppers. They are most often used with foods, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, and plastics.

Flexible screw conveyors are versatile. While they move less material than aero-mechanical conveyors, flexible screw systems can operate continuously, unlike aero-mechanical. Because of this, aero-mechanical systems are often used in batch processing, while flexible screw systems are ideal for continuous, batch, or intermittent processing.
AERO-FLEX: A Quick Overview of Features & Benefits
- Robust: Flexible screw conveyors can convey 2000 pounds of material in 10 minutes and they can be started and stopped under load.
- Gentle: Flexible screw conveyors can convey powders and granular material without degradation or separation of product.
- Efficient transfer of material: Flexible screw conveyors are not energy intensive systems. They can also run continuously, unlike aero-mechanical conveyors.
- Easy to maintain: With only one moving part, flexible screw conveyors are very easy to maintain. The Aero-Flex is specifically designed for high reliability, minimal maintenance, and easy cleaning.
- Flexibility to meet most application and installation requirements. Multiple pick-up and discharge options.
- Versatile: Flexible screw conveyors can convey vertically, horizontally, and diagonally. They are low profile and are often mobile for in-plant flexibility
- Heavy-duty design: The Aero-Flex conveyor is engineered with a heavier duty spiral than its competitors, which means lower replacement costs and less downtime. VAC-U-MAX guarantees Aero-Flex spirals against twisting out, unraveling or breaking for 2 years.
- Clean: The Aero-Flex is a dust-free, closed system. The screw is also available in sanitary stainless steel.

Mechanical or Pneumatic? Choosing a Conveying Method
In our article, When to Convey Pneumatically & When to Convey Mechanically, we discuss the strengths and nuances of aero-mechanical, flexible screw, and pneumatic conveying for transferring dry bulk to processing and packaging lines.

AERO-FLEX: How it Works
Flexible screw conveyors are relatively simple and easy to maintain. The Aero-Flex system utilizes a stainless steel or carbon steel one-piece helix which rotates within a stationary plastic tube, transferring material from its feed to the discharge point quickly and efficiently.
Flexible screws are most often used with foods, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, and plastics. Process applications include load filling machines; blenders and mixers; bulk bag loaders; grinders, pulverizers, and air classifiers; load and unload sifters; and surge hoppers.
Setting a New Benchmark in Performance
Conveying with flexible screws is very common, leading some to look at the equipment as a commodity item—but that is far from true. A precision engineered flexible screw conveyor is a value-added piece of capital equipment. All VAC-U-MAX systems are designed for peerless performance—maximizing output, machine durability, and product quality.
The VAC-U-MAX Aero-Flex conveyor features heavy-duty flexible screws that are more rugged than competitors’ models. They last longer, incurring less maintenance and downtime, and therefore have lower replacement expenditures. Aero-Flex screws come with a two-year guarantee against twisting out, unraveling or breaking.
Aero-Flex conveyors are convenient, flexible, low profile, and mobile. They can be configured to transfer material from a wide variety of pickup points, including bulk bag unloaders; feed bins or hoppers; bag dump stations; mixers and blenders; pharmaceutical machinery; and silos.
